Blueplanet in infrastructurenews

BluePlanet has been appointed by Magalies Water to help rehabilitate Hartbeespoort Dam through bioremediation supported by Moleaer nanobubble technology, targeting the underlying effects of decades of wastewater pollution rather than only symptoms such as algal blooms and invasive plants.
The approach introduces oxygen into the water and sediment to support beneficial microbes that digest accumulated sludge, improve nutrient cycling and stabilise water chemistry, with the aim of restoring ecological balance. An 85-hectare pilot at the Swartspruit inlet is intended to establish the requirements for broader treatment and forms part of a coordinated rehabilitation strategy involving pollution-source control, invasive plant removal and other interventions.
The article also highlights nanobubble technology’s potential to improve water and wastewater treatment efficiency and its applications in mining, irrigation, aquaculture and water reclamation.
